About us:

Donoughmore National School is a Church of Ireland school that welcomes all faiths and none.

We are a small rural school nestled in the beautiful country side of the Glen of Imaal founded in 1883. We are situated on a quiet cul-the-sac, which leads up to Donoughmore Church.

The children have a vast outdoor area which includes a basketball court, playground including swings, slide and tunnels, and open fields to play safely.

We have full access to 2 large parish halls where classes requiring more space like hip-hop, gymnastics, etc can take place. This extra space has been invaluable especially on rainy days for GAA, P.E. and playtimes.

We have two well-equipped classrooms. Children from Junior Infants to 2nd class learn together in the Junior Room and children from 3rd to 6th learn in the Senior Room. By nature, this multiclass situation fosters a caring environment where each age group learns from each other.

Ethos:

In our community all pupils are equally valued and respected irrespective of sex, social background, family circumstances, educational achievement, physical characteristics or intellectual functioning. We liken ourselves to a large family.

Donoughmore school philosophy:

The philosophy of Donoughmore National School is to provide a caring and secure environment in which each child can develop holistically. Each individual will be encouraged to develop his/her full potential academically, physically, culturally, spiritually and socially. Each child will be assisted in acquiring interpersonal skills and respect for others and self, the environment and the community as a whole.
